Utilizing Small Steps for Life (SSFL), the Leonard Gucciardi Empowerment Organization transitions students from underperformance to high-performance results. It has both empowerment and inspirational components. It can be integrated into any curriculum with little effort. SSFL can be incorporated into a school, grade, homeroom, after school program, or any other smaller unit. The program is available at no cost. It comes with a simple instructional guide and is a turnkey operation.
The program's home component designates that the parents have primary
responsibility for the student. The home section shows the parents the value
of incremental change and it draws them in so that they become active
partners for the corresponding school component.
The school component shows the student the value of incremental change. It includes other learning tools designed to assist students. Motivational sections address student optimism, inspiration, and opportunity. These sections are especially important because the student often considers his or her circumstances and difficulties unique. However, these sections illustrate that others have faced tribulations and prevailed.
SSFL would be particularly advantageous for after-school students as it optimizes additional parent and teacher resources.
